I chose to study at BCUIC and Birmingham City University because I wanted to study jewellery, and I loved the sound of Birmingham’s rich history in jewellery – and the fact that it has its own jewellery quarter and one of the world’s largest jewellery schools.

I was able to make friends easily at BCUIC. I enjoyed mixing with other nationalities, and the teachers were friendly too.

Studying at the University is really good! The facilities in the Assay Office are so professional, and it’s great to work with the stones. We identify them, distinguish between the real ones and the imitations, and learn all about their individual properties.

After I graduate I’d like to return to China and open up my own jewellery shop. The jewellery industry is huge in China!
