Paying for your studies

Most EU students are eligible for tuition fee loans. This means that, as an EU citizen, you can borrow money from the UK Government to cover up to the entire cost of your studies.

You can receive a student loan if you are an EU citizen and if it is your first higher education qualification.

For more information, you can visit this website.

Repaying your Student Loan

You will need to start repaying your student loan when you have finished your studies and if your salary increases the repayment threshold of the country you live in. You will pay 9% of any income above the repayment threshold, and the loan will be annulled after 30 years’ eligibility to repay. Therefore, you will only be required to make repayments for the first 30 years of your employment.

You can apply for your student loan by completing a paper-based application form and sending it back to Student Finance England. When applying for the first time you will also be required to send proof of identity (passport or identity card).
